I love bowhunting and walking up pheasants, but NOTHING beats ducks locked up and dropping in fast. And a good retrieve is like the cherry on top of the sunday.
That's a good outline but there are exceptions, this past year my dad shot a buck that I would have sworn was 1 1/2 years old, I would have bet 500 dollars on it. We took it to the registration station where there was a DNR biologist aging deer, HE said it looks like a nice 1 1/2 year old until he checked the teeth, It was 2 1/2, everybody was flabbergasted. I use the wall hanger system, If I would be proud to hang it on my wall, I shoot, if not I let him walk. It's simple and easy to do, no measurements needed.
I think it's the woman, chicks make us do funny things that even we don't understand sometimes. Like when we go out and buy flowers in the middle of February, it makes no sense whatsoever, I mean who on earth needs flowers in February?
I did a bluegill back in high school, it turned out looking like a clown fish, I don't think I have the artistic ability to pull it off as a career.
Nate, well said. I want to tell a little story that relates to what you said. When I was a freshman in high school we had a county wide traveling trapshooting league. Every Saturday morning we shot our rounds and the following Monday, scores were read over the pa system with the rest of the morning announcements. Our trophies were displayed in the trophy cases along with the other sports trophies. Then some kid went nuts and killed a bunch of his classmates in some little town in Colorado. Our scores were no longer read, our trophies were removed from the case and our club was no longer recognized in the year book. This was a tragedy, instead of standing up and saying "These are a bunch of good responsible kids, firing thousands of rounds from hundreds of guns every week, and there has never been an accident, an injury, or an incident of any kind." They pushed us out of the school and pretended like we never existed. It's too bad a few bad apples can ruin things for everybody else.
Hogs are a bad thing, they reproduce like nuts, destroy native plants and human crops. Hogs will also destroy turkey and waterfowl nests. They are a menace when it comes to the natural environment. But with all that being said i wouldn't welcome them in but i would do my part hunting them if they did come in.
Benelli M2 Field, it's a great versatile auto loader that is as reliable as any pump.
A non serious bow hunter, surely there is no such thing. Archery takes lots and lots of practice to be able to hit what you aim at, judge distance, and actually get a deer into bow range. I don't know anybody who can pick up a bow only when they hunt and expect to kill a deer. For instance, i shoot literally thousands of arrows during the summer to prepare for the season and i won't go out if i can't shoot a few arrows ahead of time to make sure i am on.
I have actualy tried this, I didn't have such good results though, mine came out very tough, perhaps just an older bird, maybe and more likely i over cooked it. Best use for geese i have found is jerky.
I use a B-square saddle mount on my 870 for deer hunting, but stick with the Hi Viz fiber optic sight for my turkey gun. I could go with a scope but have never felt a need to do it.
