  • Best New Tent 2009: Springbar Traveler 5 With Portico

    100% of 2 votes

At first glance this is just an old-fashioned, 10x10-foot canvas tent. But the two-pole frame is ingeniously simple, requiring only one person to pitch a tent that I’ve personally witnessed survive 70-mph gusts. Forget wall tents. This is the best end-of-the-road base-camp tent I’ve ever used, with plenty of stand-up and elbow room for three hunters. The portico is generously cut and can be pitched in configurations to act as both windbreak and rain fly. --Keith McCafferty

  • RAPALA GLASS SHAD RAP

    100% of 4 votes
Rapala has practically turned the Shad Rap into a live fish by
adding a see-through body and an inner prismatic strip that
reflects light in all directions and colors as the lure moves. The
slightest twitch sends out rays of iridescence, even when the lure
runs deep in low light. It's a smart innovation, and while other
such highly reflective lures are pretty pricey, this is one you can
afford to stock up on. $6; 952-933-7060; www.rapala.com
