Still can't hunt here in Maine, Nov.1 is the opening gun date. Congrats on the doe! I'm anxious as all get out.
"Over the weekend, still another outpost was attacked in the distant reaches of Afghanistan, and still more American soldiers -- and Afghan ones -- were lost. An undermanned and overstretched international force struggles on in that graveyard of empires. And waits for word from Washington. And waits and waits. ... All wait to see what course the president will choose, or will let others choose for him. In the meantime he dithers -- and Americans fight and die." --columnist Paul Greenberg
"This democracy of ours which sometimes we've treated so lightly, is more than ever a comfortable cloak, so let us not tear it asunder, for no man knows once it is destroyed where or when he will find its protective warmth again." --Ronald Reagan
President Reagan was my favorite and so very proud of this fine country. The contrast with our current president is to me disgusting. How could we have fallen so far so very fast?
Adamile-admitting your flaws is one aspect of a democracy but denouncing your own country and playing the subservient stooge to tin pot dictators is playing into their hands. You never speak outside of the family about the family if you are "responsible".
Wait, it's not a hoax? Are they serious? Early Friday morning, the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced that Barack Obama would receive a consolation prize for losing out on the 2016 Olympics -- namely the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.
For what? There's been no signing of peace treaties, no ending of wars, no stopping of nuclear proliferation. Obama hasn't stood up for human rights in China, hasn't denounced the oppression of women in the Muslim world, hasn't stared down brutal dictators such as Castro, Chavez, Kim and Ahmadinejad. Again, I ask: For what?
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA,
APRIL 3: There have been times where Americans showed arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.
OBAMA, APRIL 6: The United States is still working through some of our own darker periods in our history.
OBAMA, APRIL 17: We've at times been disengaged and at times we sought to dictate our terms.
OBAMA, APRIL 20: We have to acknowledge potentially we've made some mistakes. That's how we learn.
OBAMA, MAY 21: Unfortunately, faced with an uncertain threat, our government made a series of hasty decisions. In other words, we went off course.
The horrible sacrifice that "Pinocchio's" wife had to make flying in a fine luxury jet that we pay for to a fine luxury hotel that we pay for and the fine luxury meals that we pay for really saddens me. How horrible it all must be! I imagine her existence is pure hell on earth! While she was suffering so horribly and being so put out my crew was pouring cement in pouring rain until 9:15 at night so that we would have work for the following day. We were able to bring in a little coffee and some stale breakfast sandwiches that had been sitting under a heating lamp from early morning. Not one of these hard working men complained one bit. Why? Because they were providing for their families. Their tireless work provides for food, education, keeping the car on the road, housing, medical attention and maybe if everything goes well maybe a treat of some sort or maybe some really necessary new clothing.
The hard working people of this country deserve much better than these elitist snobs crying and whining at every turn in the road. I have nothing but respect for the fine men and women who work tirelessly every day at grueling jobs to provide and nothing but loathing toward the con artists in the white house.
I read today that the young man in question in this rape case says that Jennings has the facts all wrong. Not only did he condone rape but he compounds the issue with an apparent lie. Another great addition to the "Pinocchio" Obama team!
I read the response by jason rieke and would like to add my 2 cents worth. My father was a outlaw as far as game laws were concerned. He grew up in the 20's and money and jobs were hard to come by. He fed his family by what he was able to hunt and bring home. The gun that he used, because the family owed one and the cost of the ammo, was a 22 rimfire. He shot virtually all kinds of game with the 22 rifle. I'm not talking about a 22 self-loader but a single shot rifle. Because of the volume of deer that he shot with the 22 he preached the importance of never underestimating this round and never being careless with it. Many animals are taken every year with underpowered rounds, shot placement is the key. The 410 shotgun is not the best coyote gun by any standard but "the right pellet in the right spot"!
