  • Discussion Topic: On Henry’s “Guns and Religion” Ad
    85

    From The New York Times:

[Henry Repeating Arms’ newest print ad shows a man wearing] a holster with a gun on one side and a Bible on the other.

“There is nothing wrong with clinging to your guns and religion,” the headline reads, quoting Anthony Imperato, president at Henry, in a clear reference to a remark last year by Barack Obama before he was elected president. . . .

thats the best ad i ever saw, im gonna by a henryy

  • Do You Care If Fish Feel Pain?
    40

This just in, courtesy of my friend John Kirk.  A recent study apparently suggests that fish might indeed sense pain.

I know, I know... It's not really a breaking news item.  After all, PETA and others have been on the "don't hurt the sea kittens" soap box for years.

i dont care at all, its not like im kickin a human being in the shins, fish arent smart, they may be hard tocatch but they still arnt smart

  • New Jersey Has New Northern Pike Record
    4

    From NorthJersey.com:

The state Division of Fish and Wildlife has announced that John Viglione of Ringwood made his way onto the state record fish list recently by landing a new state record northern pike. Viglione was fishing in Pompton Lake when he reeled in the 30-pound, 8.5-ounce fish, eclipsing the old record caught 32 years ago in Spruce Run Reservoir in Hunterton County's Clinton Township by 6.5 ounces. . . .

in new jersy? really? im surprised that there is any fish bigger than 2 inches in the most densly populated state, but i guess there is big pike, though i still hate new jersy.

  • Discussion Topic: Food Plots Vs. Baiting
    28

This Letter To The Editor is a little dated because it’s been trumped by harder news lately, but I’ve been wanting to post it because it makes an interesting argument that’s still plenty valid and timely with Michigan imposing a bait ban last year and Wisconsin now considering the same. Here it is, from the Wausau Daily Herald:

EDITOR: Is this what deer hunting in Wisconsin has become?

i dont like or use either. though i dont think food plots should be illegaized and i think baiting should be, food plots are much more ethical than baiting

  • Obama Blasted For NHFD Proclamation Speech
    40

The Los Angeles Times’ Andrew Malcolm (who I’m guessing will not be celebrating National Hunting and Fishing Day) found a little irony in President Obama’s recent salute to hunting and hunters, suggesting he sounded a bit like a certain former governor:

Remember that Democratic candidate for president -- what was his name? -- who complained to those elite San Francisco donors at a supposedly private mansion gathering about bitter small-town Pennsylvanians who cling to their guns and religion? . . .

that is the only good thing obama ever said, eventhough it was just him trying to get a little bit of support and didnt really mean it

  • Anti-Deer-Hunting Billboard Goes Up in Kansas City
    261

    From KCTV 5 News:

Opponents of a plan to allow some people to shoot deer in Shawnee Mission Park are upping their efforts to prevent the killings. . . [by posting] a billboard in downtown Kansas City, Mo., . . . [that] reads, "Don't let your tax dollars become blood money. . . ."

radical idiots dont know what theyre talkin about so they just put lies of someone shootin a fawn from 2 feet

  • Chad Love: Toy Guns Don’t Make Kids Killers
    33

It's always refreshing to see a  person reject "liberal" versus "conservative" politics in favor of  non-partisan rationality, and a good example of this can be found in this essay on the "liberal"-leaning news site Salon.

    From the story:

I was a violent kid. More than anything, I loved to  play war. In my basement, I built a sandbag foxhole out of stacked-up sofa  pillows. I would hide inside and peer out at what I imagined were the smoking slopes of Iwo Jima, crawling with Japanese soldiers ready to fight to the death.

good, the guy turned out normal. i think i would too if didnt have a gun loven republican dad, republican mom, brother, and sister who i would vote for presedent

  • Chad Love: Scouts Ban Knives in Great Britain
    57

I've previously waxed poetic about my love for all things British, especially fine English doubles .

Unfortunately, however, Great Britain is also home to some of the most bizarre and draconian weapons laws on the planet. As such, many Americans like to hold up the British Isles as an example of what's on the horizon for us, but after seeing this bit of news      this morning I don't buy that argument any more, because there's simply no way we could ever go as collectively crazy as this...right?

    From the story:

LONDON, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- British Scouts will no longer be permitted to carry knives, even on camping trips, due to an increase in fatal stabbings, Scout officials said Sunday.

so for british scouts "a little advenrure" is wearing bubble wrap, knee pads, and a helmet whenever you walk outside and talking about how they feel safe from bullys? thats crazy i thought they made scouts to teach kids selfreliance not that that u should be scared of poket knives
