There were four of us hunting up in NY, we were pushing woods all morning long. We finally got a deer, which was a doe dressed at 150lbs. We did not realize how far we were from the vehicles until we had to drag that deer out. We think that is was over two miles and took about 2 and a half hours. One of the best days I think.

After my friend missed a tom early one morning we moved and started calling there was a lull. So we pulled our masks glaves and leaned our shotguns against a tree. Then a big crash ten minutes later. We were unprepared but they were about 50 yards out. I took my first bird at 45 yards so I made up for it.

I think you should be able to hunt on sundays, some people only get saturday and sundays to hunt. NC finally changed the law to bow hunting on sundays on private land this year, that helps. City limits hunting should be allowed with bow, there are problems with deer overpoplutation in city's atleast in upstate NY in Auburn there was. SO I am all for both. Good luck.

Were you there when the book was written? Where you there when the fish turned into mammals? All of it is hearsay if you really think about it. I know that there is no bigfoot but you better believe we took off like a bad out of he**. Another time my cousin and I were trout fishing a mile or so from his house and got chased by a coy dog. A coy dog is a domesticated dog that mates with a wild dog. Not to friendly and not scared of humans. One more time we were out coon hunting on this island and began to get surrounded by two packs of coyotes. Last October I returned from deployment and my watch broke. So one of my buddies gave me a dive watch. Now I am not big on watches and not this one because it was to big... I have this GySgt that was showing me how to fish salt water and I being a Cpl respected the fact that he would help me learn. So when he said that he needed a watch I gladly told him that I would give him my watch that I had only wore for a week. He tried to pay me for it but I would and could not take a payments for something I got for free. About a month later he asked me to go out to his truck to grab a pole for him. So I grabbed it and brought it in the shop. It is a 8 foot pole with a really nice reel on it. He gave it to me, said that I was working hard at trying to catch fish and needed a better pole. He also said it was because I was his friend, now I know some people will say thats fratinization but to me I still respect the rank and I am not calling him by his first name. That made me proud when he gave me that pole.

I would want a fire starter, a knife and a wind up radio with the weather channel. You can use a knife to make a bowl and purify water, with the radio atleast you have the voice of someone else around and can tell if there is a storm system coming.

From what I can see is people on this topic are ill-informed. Everyone says public land is to crowded the animals are so pressured. Why do people not think out side the box. Most public land hunters will go on, is not far from the road. People need to get away from these heavy areas and do the research. I admit seeing alot of people on public land. But when you get into the woods deeper then they are willing to go you will score and score big. Change up the routes if you can get to the back of the land by boat do it. Trust me not many people are thinking of places like that. Just go a little farther off the beaten path you will be happy you did.

I work as an Embark NCO, I plan and coordinate movements by air, land, and sea. I wanted to be a parachute rigger but my recruiter never signed me up for that but as a logistics option. When you are in infantry they tend to play alot of games with you, games that are not that fun. Besides if you do not make a career of it what do you have to fall back on? Well a day in the life right now is 0700-1600 just like a normal job. But I use a computer all day and when I am not busy I tend to be on F&S. Though a day in the life deployed is completly different. Though I am a logistics Marine I went out on almost every mission. I have my combat action ribbon and a purple heart. You never know what you will be doing and can still get into the fight. Military Police may not be what you think, more like gate guard until you pick up a few ranks. I would say find a career you will like and be able to use if you decide to get out after 4 years. But make sure if you pick a job that job is guaranteed in your contract. Not like me with logistics as the broader option. O and it does not hurt to ask for a bonus. Let me know if you have any more questions. Semper Fidelis

About 10 minutes later I hear some trees and brush moving. Then I see brown but not a deer, there was a guy wearing a brown carhart cross country skiing with his dogs. He is lucky that I was a responsible shooter and didnt just shoot at brown. This should not happen, so when we left the woods the guy was still around. We confronted him and he jumped in his truck and drove off. Not really sure what the game warden did though. But some people need common sense.

It was July 1 2008, in north western Afghanistan. We had been on a patrol in our vehicles for 4 days. We meet with a local police chief who says there is a wanted man a few clicks away. Only one man but they are scared to get him. This sounded fishy to me. We proceed to head to this village, one the way the police begin firing at nothing saying they saw taliban but nothing. We begin to clear a few villages but turn up nothing. Just as we started to head back we saw three motorcycles with AK's head in another village. We clear that village but nothing. As we begin leave yet again after 3 hours of clearing and chasing "pink elephants." Out of no where a huge blast hits 10 feet behind my vehicle. The first of many mortars. We begin to scatter and try to fight. Rockets begin air bursting all around us. As we start shooting the spotters, machine gun fire opens up from three sides. Chaos ensues but we were prepared. Just two days prior the Spanish got hit in the same spot and ran back to their FOB with out firing a shoot. Thats not how we fight. We begin to charge up the hill with our vehicles. I am the last one, when my MRAP tilts quickly almost rolling. Quick I throw it in reverse jamming us on the mud but saved us from rolling. The MRAP being so heavy collapsed a small road on top of a spring. Every one is ok but we are still taking mortars and rockets. We bunker along a small wall and begin directing targets. The rest of the team has pushed up the hill and taken fire. We are by ourself with the afghan army, not the best fighters. An ANA soldier with a rpg hops over a wall, we start to get away from him when his rocket discharges. The rocket thankfully went away from me but was loud as h*ll. In all my vehicle is buried and we take 3 more hours to get it out. When we begin to leave my vehicle was over heatng bad. It was 2200 at night by this time, intel gets passed that both exits out of the valley are mined. Thats when they told me I was lead vehicle, we begin driving on NVG's. When another MRAP got stuck in a wet spot in the dried up riverbed. We try until 0100 to get it out, we pull back and start security for the night watching the MRAP. In all we have been in the kill zone for atleast 7 hours now. We each get a hour of sleep. At 0430 sun rise comes and we are able to get out the vehicle by 0800. We eventually make it back to base with out any more incidents. We had no Marines injured, but had 5 Afghan Army soldiers injured. One got shot in the back of the leg, another burns from the RPG, and 3 that got injured from their 50 cal machine gun.

You can offer to take local kids hunting and fishing if their parents accept. Say kids that are in groups like boy scouts and other groups like that. Or go to the local school and spread the word about the trap shooting. MAke discounts for young shooters at sportsmans clubs, maybe even offer hunting classes or classes that teach you how to shoot.

That is the one I have. I love it, the smaller size fits in the roaf of my mouth better. The sounds that it produces are amazing. The foam is an added bonus because I think it seals better in the mouth. Definatly worth buying I think. I have used it for the past two years and got a turkey each year. Planning on using it next month on my hunts.

My uncle really got me started hunting deer. Small game was my father and turkey was one of my friends. I love taking people hunting or fishing for the first time. Taking 3 people out this year that have never done it before. In a few weeks I will be taking a guy from work turkey hunting. When I do this I let them take the gun and I do the calling. I think it is a better experience for them.

This happened to me a few years ago. A friend and I were hunting the opening day of muzzel loader. We crept within 45 yards of a herd of deer. Both of us shot deer and found blood trails going into the woods. The land was posted and we saw the land owner on the side of the road. She called the cops told them that we shot from the road. Within 10 minutes out in the middle of nowhere the state troopers, county sheriff and the DEC officers showed up. After they checked us over and we told them what had happened they would not let us get our deer that were wounded. The lady said that we could not go on her land to retrieve the downed animals. That day we lost two deer to a pointless person. She was never charged with falsly reporting a crime because she was the under sheriff's wife.
no way you have to post in order to get points.
I had a bean chair and my Jack Russel would drag it around the house then lay in it on her back, legs sprawled.

The Salmon river that comes off the southeast corner of Lake Ontario is the place to go for this. People catch some amazing fish there. You can even go down stream a ways and still catch nice fish.

I do not think this is true, think about it no matter how far you are shooting the bullet is coming out to the rifle the same velocity. Why would it strain the barrel? This just doesn't make any sense.

I would put them about 15 yards away from you in between you and where you think the tom would be coming. Put one hen facing you acting like it is walking away then about 2 yards away put the jake and hen really close together.

I worked on a farm about 7 years ago. I had been working on a few farms from the age 12 to 17. We did hay, corn and soybeans. The owner probably had a couple hundred acres. I also helped my friends to on their farm. In upstate NY that is about all there is to do for a job, when you are young.

I have a Mossburg 500 with the bird barrel and use an undertaker turkey choke. I picked up all of this for 195 dollars. The gun was used and came with a slug barrel to. I love this gun I use it for everything from clays to deer to ducks.
These people are ill informed and do not understand that guns do not kill people because if that was the case then matches cause arson. They just do not understand.

You need camo for your entire body, an decent shotgun with a tight choke. Learn to call well before the season opens. I use a hen decoy I picked up cheap. Thats really all you need.

I would say deer hunting with my grandfather out behind his house. Just me and him, in the woods wouldnt matter if we saw anything. Just to be there.
I just love being out in the middle of nowhere, no one around and it is so peaceful. Or being on the river and catfishing at night, but again it is so quiet and peaceful.

I do not know how to take this question I agree with mdhager115 on their post, but your question could also be taken in a different way. The way I took it was people post the same questions that someone else posted a few days before. That would be the users fault for not looking before they ask. Had some people taken the time to look they would not ask.

I use Ivy Dry, you spray it on and it dries out the rash. But be careful not to spray to much it will give you a chemical burn, I found out the hard way and I was going by the directions. Hope this helps.
When I was little my father, brother and I went fishing down the river from our camp. We were just out having fun and hit a hot hole of crappies and sunfish. I was maybe 8 or 9 but it was the time of my life. As soon as we tossed in the line we had fish. Just a great day of fishing.

I think the number one thing is be ethical, just like it was said before. Make sure the shot is within your limits. My first time hunting I saw a huge buck limping across the field. It was missing its front left leg, from that day on I have always shot within my limits.

You do not need much to hunt rabbit. Most of the time I walk around until I find a rabbit or a brush pile. I kick the brush pile and hope the rabbit comes running out.

I agree but I wouldnt want them to pay money to get rid of them. When hunters would do the same thing for free. But then PETA would get involved and say allowing hunters to kill them would be inhumane. Bunch of crap.

I have been hunting turkeys for about 5 years now. Like herie said camo is important, however you my find it easier to use a diaphram call, that is what I did. I have taken two turkeys in my first year, since I have not been able to get out into the woods because of the military. I used a mossberg 500 with an undertaker turkey choke and a hen decoy. Thats all, I did not spend an awful lot of money and was successful. You have to scout and find out where the turkeys roost do this preseason in the mornings go out close to the woods you will be hunting and listen you will get a general area where they are located. I read all the time about turkey hunting what ever information I can get my hands on I soak it up. You should do the same. Good luck hunting.
Well I just had my 22nd birthday last week.
