Maybe you could get some mid-range glasses. Or, try getting a lighted bow sight. You might not be able to see your pin clearly, but I think you would still be able to see a point of light from the sight.

They should be spread in two separate groups, with a "hole" (for landing) in the middle. You want the hole to be right where your shooting zone will be, with the other decoys off to the side. About duck placement, you don't want them touching. Group drakes and hens, but again, not touching.

I own a 597, and it's an excellent gun. My only complaint is the standard plastic magazine. It would occasionally jam, or fail to feed a round. The problem was corrected by buying a metal magazine from Remington, which was around $20.

My cousin has one mounted on a 14-ft aluminum "John Boat". If I remember correctly, it has 13 lbs of thrust. At the high setting, it will get the boat moving pretty qucikly. As far as battery life, we can go out in the morning for duck hunting with lights and the motor on (all off the same battery), collect the decoys and return to the dock; and still have time to do some fishing and trolling later in the day. The motor has a chart of battery life vs. speed. I believe at high speed (setting 5), it has 2.5 hours of battery life; and at low (setting 1), it could run for 13 hours... All of this is on an aluminum flat-bottom boat; so I don't know how it would perform on a canoe. If I had to guess, I would say it would do better on a canoe, since it is smaller, lighter, ect.

I don't think Obama will do much against gun owners for now. Just to clarify, I DO NOT support him in any way, nor do I agree with any of his policies. His popularity has fallen too low for him to make such a drastic move. If he did that, he would most likely loose a lot of democratic Congress seats, which he does not want to do. If he were to make a move, it would most likely be in the last 2 years of his administration.

Peter_wayne, I don't support Obama in any form; but at the same time, I know he isn't the cause of evolution being taught in schools. Just to clarify, I am a firm Christian, and I firmly believe that God created the earth in 6 days, as laid out by the Bible. I agree that it is wrong that they only teach evolution; but I don't think only creationism should be taught either. Both "answers" to the creation of the world should be taught as theories, since NO ONE except God was around when the world was created. For all I know, God could have started the evolutionary process; except that there is no evidence of evolution. I am currently home-schooling, and learning from a Christian science book. While it helps to have a Christian source; I am still exposed to evolution through the internet, other books, friends, ect. As someone else said, homeschooling isn't the end-game solution to the problem of indoctrination; but rather it is the responsibility of the parents to teach their children what they need to know. Schools don't teach kids how to hunt, pursue God, or any number of other important skills. And honestly, would you want the schools to teach your kids to hunt? I know for me personally, I'll be the one to teach my kids (when I get married in years to come) the important things of life.

If your gun has interchangeable or replaceable barrels, you might try getting a barrel for steel. Does the barrel say (it should have a stamp) it can't use steel? If you can't use steel/tungsten shot, bismuth would probably be your only option, but bismuth shot is very expensive.

Dakohta, that is a hard position to be in. God tells us to honor our parents. At the same time, we also must honor God (in other words, God's law is always higher). Forgiveness is a honorable trait! Being able to forgive is an incredible gift! Continue in your faith in God, and run the race set before you (Hebrews 12:1-2).

You can by "Para-cord" (also called 550 cord) at a surplus store. Wrap the handles as tightly as possible with the cord, and leave the end to make a lanyard. If you drill, get a good drill bit, and use a drill press. Also, while drilling, put oil on the hole (to cool the bit, and help remove bits of metal)
