This is also a good idea in case your electric goes out the more you have the longer your food will keep. It also helps save on your utility bill because you have more frozen stuff in your freezer so it does not have to run as hard or often.
it works great my wife dropped hers in the tub a few years ago and we did this. the phone worked great for 2 more years.
dont forget your knit hat to help keep you warm also.
I am left handed but have always shot a right handed gun. The only problem i have is with semi-autos, i developed a flinch after shooting a worn out .22 that blew back a few times. With modern bolt actions this is not a problem. Ruger does make a really nice left-handed gun though. With practice you can shoot your old 06 as fast as a lefty model.
To remove rust from a carbon steel blade, clean a cast iron pot, and remove "stains" from stainless steel all you have to do is make a paste of baking soda and water and rub it gently over the rusted/soiled area.
you can use a whole pant leg to protect your rifle/shotgun. cut the leg at the crotch seem then sew it up. if you use carpenter pants you get extra storage. cargo pants also work well especially with a zipper sewn on. you can either sew up the bottom or simple tie it off. you can add straps or ammo loops or whatever else suits you.
Another thing that can be done to gather bait is to place a piece of plywood in an unused spot in your yard. All kinds of bugs hang out underneath of it.
If you are haveing trouble with your slug gun shooting inconsistently make sure the barrel is properly tightened. Many old timers will remember that older remington 870s had a large screwdriver slot to tighten the barrel with. Since newer guns lack this the best thing to use is a rubber strap wrench or a pair of channel lock pliers with the jaws wrapped with duct tape. I have known a few guys with this problem and it cured it eveytime.
A good way to obtain free bait is to place a bail of straw in an unused part of your yard. Check underneath of it periodically and you can find worms, grubs, salamanders, crickets, and other kinds of bugs that make good bait.
