It really depends on the distance and angle and all that, i would rather just just below the head because I have shot low before and paid for it, I shot the beard off, only about 2 inches were left
My year was bittersweet, it was my last youth hunt. I think it was my 8th turkey. I saw my first gobbler of the day within 30 minutes of sitting up. It was about a 60 yard shot and I shot above it. It was a monster would have been my biggest bird. My biggest was my first, it was 25 lbs, 11 3/4 inch beard and about an inch spurs. So I miss and im mad. About 1 hour later a bearded hen comes in and I shoot it. I was very excited what a way to end my youth hunt. No, there is always a catch. I shot the beard off. There was strands everywhere. It was about 8 inches too. Oh well, i guess it is better to get these agonizing hunts out of the way while im young. I have many more hunts ahead of me.
yea my bad, i was used to putting gauge behind everything. i just meant 22
Im not a NWTF, so how do I become one
I have killed 8 or so turkey and my biggest was actually my first when I was 5 i killed a 25 or so pound tom with an 11 3/4 in beard, 1 inch spurs. I can't wait until season comes in so i can finally hunt on my own. Goodbye youth hunting
