The crazy thing was the guy had a map and a compass and still went the wrong way. Crazy!!!!
That is funny!!! Good stuff.
Fire rocks occured after Mount St. Helens blew. Due to all the ask that covered the entire area, the ash has seaped into the ground and become imbedded in the local rocks. One of the primary components of ash is sulfur. If you pick the right rocks, the ones with the shiny appearance (substance) on them, you can take a match to them and they will light on fire. Hence you have what we call fire rocks!!!
Sounds pretty believable right? The shiny substance on the rocks is the fire paste or fire gel you put on the rocks before the kids or your buddies showed up. The whole story sounds believable and you can even challenge them to find some. They might bring you the exact same rock...just keep telling them to keep looking and they will find one :)
So I am guessing you live right near the Money Creek or Beckler River campgrounds. Beckler River is our favorite camping spot and we do drive the five hours it takes to get there even though it is so far away. We love it. Know of any good spots to pick huckleberries around there?
Jamin, where are you at, I will be there when the berries come in!!! But seriously let me know where you are at and if you have ever heard of fire rocks in Washington state?
I have to disagree with the cotton comments but I have to stipulate only wear a thin layer of cotton. I like a think t-shirt next to the skin, even over polypropylene or under armour but then I use a couple of layers (non-cotton) over that.
The reason I like the cotton is that is soaks up the moisture and dries out quickly when I want it to and then I can put a warm piece of clothing back on. I have also found it does not burn as easily as prolypropylene.
Here are some safety tips for the outdoors.
When in open water, you don't need to swim faster than a shark, just stab your buddy and swim faster than him.
You don't have to be faster than the bear chasing you, just faster than your buddy the bear is also chasing.
I like the flamethrowers...but the forest service looks at you funny when they see you :)
Jamin, where are you at. I am right outside of Spokane. Do you know how to find pitch wood? A great natural tinder in any season.
Is there a preference of advantage to having broadheads versus not? I am also looking to start this year and would like to know. Also I was told you need to practic shoot with what you will hunt with, does that mean shoot with your broadheads? I only ask since they are more expensive.
