You don't have to out run the bear, you just have to outrun your friend!

I carry an ar-15 and a shotgun when I go coyote hunting. I love shooting the AR, it's .223 and I have dumped coyotes out at 300+ yards. They are nice when you get a runner, you can fling the lead! The shot gun is a pain to carry but I have learned that leaving it behind is a mistake. The coyotes that get away are often the ones that run in with in 30 yards but never stop!

I heard the trick is to wash them before you put them in the oil. Be sure the oil is plenty hot so when the wet taters hit it it sizzles a lot and keeps them separated.

Where I hunt it is not ethical to not kill them. There are occasionaly calltle and horses that die or cost a lot of money to fix.The problem is they will be feeding along and get tagged in the snout. It will sometimes cause death do to breathing complications and such.I have had before daylight encounters while walking to the antelope blind, almost sat on them coyote hunting and have not met a friendly one yet. I will not kill non venomous snakes, they can fill in for the rattlers!

I used to have a honey hole of them in missouri, I found them one year and they were there every year. I dont know why but the advice I will give is this. When you walk down a hill you may not spot them, walking up hill they seem to be more visible. When you see one just stand there looking at the ground and you may start noticing them all over the place!Good luck they are good eating.

Have you looked into a .17 hmr? savage and marlin has models that start around $200. You can pick off a gopher out at a couple hundred yards with a .17 hmr

If you can see them they can see you. Maybe try to get the bait to them from a distance.
Go to www.buckingtheodds.com !That site is all about teaching hunters how to call in and kill coyotes!

I have a wingmaster and the only prob I have had is with the 3.5" mags. It is the only 3.5 chambered wingmaster I have seen to date. It usually handles them fine but every now and then it will get hung up.

Thats great advice! I always wondered the same thing and always went with UPS. I guess I figured UPS must be the better bet since they were more expensive. Man do I feel foolish, its like the time I was selling a litter of Lab pups. I was asking $300 and could not get rid of the little furballs. So I raised the price to $400 and they were gone within a few days!
This depends on a lot of factors. Are you hunting the open country or dense cover? What time of year? There is a lot to learn about coyotes to get really consistant. If I were to be brief to help you get started I would say don't get hung up on what disress call you use. There are a bunch, I like to use the Quaker Boy Killar Pipes. They come as a set, one long range(loud) and a medium(quiet). They are a closed reed wich is easy, but may freeze up in the cold. Practice an open reed, harder to learn but reliable. The exact sounds of your calling are not that important, BUT start quiet and gradually get louder. If you start to loud and set up close to one you risk blowing them out of the country. Make sure you bnlow yor calls in short blasts, critters dont have big lungs. Put emotion into it. Hope this helps, there is a brand new website called www.buckingtheodds.com that is full of info, stop by and check it out!

Man I hate to here this kind of deal. I grew up in MO and always paid res. fees. I would like to go deer hunting there with my dad one of these days. I guess its gonna be expensive. You mentioned instead of gouging you for 25 more dollars they will get nothing. I don't blame you, it is an outrage to me that the wildlife management offices don't have the funds they need to operate with out squeezing us to death on tag fees and Licenses. The one thing about here in Colorado, they pride themselves on operating with no tax payer money. Which is kind of a crock, but it is what it is, and at least taxpayers know the hunters are fitting the bill to manage the critters. The problem is once a guy can't afford to hunt he will put down his guns, give up hunting and be careless about gun rights when he goes to the polls. Every one here in CO got tired of not drawing tags and then seeing out of staters sporting big bull elk down the road on there ATV trailer. They would rather have a non resident's $400 than my $30. So they fussed enough to where they limited the # of out of state licence to 40%. The next year I had to pay $50 instead of $30 for my tag. They will get it one way or the other, ha ha ha !

I think you'll notice a decline in the coyotes if something happens to the rabbits. I don't think you'll notice rabbit numbers go down due to to many coyotes.

I like the quaker boy killer pipes when its not so cold they freeze. they come in a pack of two. One is short to medium range and the other is med. to long. When hunting close to cover start out quiet and progressively add volume. There are some free videos at www.buckingtheodds.com

I would not recomend the .22 for coyotes. If your not going after the fur overkill is not an issue! Even a coyote deserves a quick kill.Fox and bobcats will also soak up a .22 round and clear out in my opinion.I have no experience with bear.
No but if it ever happens I will double the danger by planting a pile of wolfbait!!!!!!
