Two half hitches, bowline, and square knot.
It is a safe sport, but there is always that chance that something could go wrong. Make sure you are always aware of what is going on in the woods. Hunting make be relaxing but is does not mean to forget safety.
In-line spinners or top water frogs.
Synthetic gives you the most bang for your buck. I agree with idahoo's answer.

Magniesium stick will do the trick! I always carried a small tin with dryer lint in it to help with the starting process. The lint catches the sparks like a pro and holds them rather well. You won't be disapointed if you try this method.

I fould camo color doesn't do much for me. It's just how much I move while in the stand that gets me in trouble. I've been in blue jeans before and had deer on me, and I've been in full camo and had deer run from me. It's how I move and smell that bust me.

Put a small bluegill on a stringer, put it in the water, and tie one end to the dock. Wait half a day then check the stringer to see if the snapper is eating the bluegill. Get your net ready and slowly pull the stringer to guide him to the shore or net to scoop him up. This may sound crazy but I've done it a few times to catch snappers. I even netted a 4lb bass the other day doing this!

No scent killer is perfect. It may kill a scent on contact, but being out in the field for a little while will cause more scent. The scent killer can't catch it all.

I caught 50+ bluegill and bass in one day, but didn't keep any. I had a fishing contest with some buddies, and I think I caught the same blugill a few times. Once we ran out of nightcrawlers, the bluegill would still bite empty hooks.

Everyone so far has hit the question on the nose. Vibrations, flash, quick movements all cause trigger strikes with fish.
Fast retrieve with sudden stops. The fish usually follow the spinner then strike when they see it slow down.

The Muzzy is a good head to shoot. I use Thuderheads and they are pretty compareable to the Muzzy. I would stick with what you are good at shooting.

I agree with people using the Answers section to just get points and not learn. However, with free gear on the line and the way the system is built, it is kind of asking for this kind of competition to arise. I think the system should be changed to once a certain number of points is obatined each month, your name is entered into a raffle for the chance to test gear. This way people will post slower and take time with what they are reading and writing.

Try to keep a watchful eye, the carp may return and camp out in that hole for a while. Have you ever caught any smallies or rockbass out of that hole?
Use a nightcrawler or cut a baitfish in half and put it on the hook. Cast it out, set the pole on a fork stick, and wait for the line to show you the action.
