The Calm Before the Storm: On a brown bear hunt in Alaska, a hunter successfully takes a nice boar.
Then the You-Know-What Hits the Fan: Right after the boar goes down, a sow and her cub suddenly appear on top of a nearby sand dune, and the sow comes charging at the hunters “like a freight train.”
The Check-Your-Underpants Factor: According to the hunters, the bear got as close as 8 yards before they fired and dropped the bear in one shot. Under that sort of pressure—knowing that one misfired shot was all that separated them from a likely lethal mauling—this encounter gets a 10.

That is why they call them dangerous game.
Pretty intense situation, but very well handled.

I Feel your pain! Great Video, you had no other choice..
O man I would have been so nervous had this happened to me. A good shot that had to be taken.
He took too long to work the bolt, but hes a good shot i guess. But that's another reason why a good semi-auto trumps a bolt any day.
It was ok.
I'd like to have that guides number, seems like he'd be a good one to ride the river with.
I have a comment to add but most importantly what happened to the cub? Did you make sure that the game and wildlife rescued it? If you want to say you are responsible hunters then I do hope you secured that cub (tell me you did this much). I realize you guys hunt and enjoy what you do, but an innocent cub and sow should not have to be killed in the name of your sport. Protecting your future hunts you should be more careful of this type of situation and make sure it's not a repeat. I was very disheartened to see this and very disturbed that you didn't even mention what happened to the cub after this incident. I don't believe in killing animals for sport as you can tell and yes my father and brother are both avid hunters and enjoy hunting all year long (though I don't watch what they do, but yes if you are hunting to provide food for your family is one thing, but just to mount an animal head or have a rug to show for your hunt is a very sad thing to me. Sorry, that you can't just enjoy an experience of pictures of animals and how majestic they truly are without having to kill them to make you feel like men in an unfair setting is beyond me.
I would still like to see an answer about what happened to the poor little cub that lost it's mother to hunters. Why couldn't you have just shot and scared the mother away?
I just got off the phone with the department of game and fisheries of North America, who informed me that the cub was monitored for several months in the wild before it mauled and killed one of the warden's that was monitoring it.
Yeah she almost got him boy hes lucky
the hunters did the right thing. they stood up and made themselves seen. they tried to scare the bear before they shot. absolutely the right thing to do. great job and great shot on both bears

If that was me i wouldn't be writing this comment right now

it is agood thing that wasn't me, i would have been running a screaming like a shoolyard kid. Also, anybody that is worried about the cub, that is just the nature of the beast. H yeah, awsome shot!!!!!!!!!!
What happened to the cub?
My butt would of puckered up so tight you couldnt of pulled a greasy string out of it with a freight train.
Lucky shot if he missed he would be mauled or worse...
