Outdoor Skills - Fishing Q&A

I don't generally use my fly reel to fight fish. What's the best way to set the drag?

Whatever you do, don't lock it down tightly. That makes it hard to strip line off the reel for casting, and if you do hook a big one, a locked drag will cause the leader to break. For most trout and bass flyfishing, make it just tight enough so that the reel doesn't overrun when the line gets yanked.
