Outdoor Skills – Fishing Q&A

Q: What's the easiest way to fish a plastic worm for bass? -Joseph Roman, Dallas, Texas

A: All you need is a 6- or 7-inch soft-plastic worm and a size 2/0 or 3/0 offset-shank worm hook. Rig the worm Texas-style with no additional weight, making it essentially weedless. Cast in and around shoreline cover and retrieve very slowly with occasional short twitches. The worm will ride just a few inches below the water’s surface, and you’ll often see the strike when it occurs.
