Potholes Reservoir

May is a headliner month at Potholes Reservoir. You can pursue rainbow trout, largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleyes, crappies, perch and bluegills. Along with stockers, anglers consistently catch three- to six-pound trout. Fish with a slip bobber and PowerBait, eggs, marshmallows or worms in 10 to 12 feet of water. Target smallmouth and largemouth bass with spinnerbaits and plastic worms near the dunes at the northern end of the reservoir and along the dam. Walleyes are found throughout the lake. Use plugs like Hot Lips or DC-13s and spinners such as a Double Whammy. The crappies, perch and bluegills can all be taken off the sizable reservoir dock. Try small Road Runners, poppers and grubs for all three. Contact: For fishing information, Mar Don Resort (800-416-2736).
