Pull shad-imitating plugs or a worm behind a bottom-walker sinker for eating-size walleyes in Cherry Creek Reservoir, southeast of Denver near the intersection of I-25 and I-225. It’s a boater’s bite in May as walleyes have pulled off the shorelines into water 15 feet deep or deeper. Best trolling zones are along the face of the dam, in the old Cherry Creek channel near the intake tower and just out from the west-shore buoys. At sunset, the bluegill and crappie bite picks up. Cast minnows or night crawlers. A $6 State Parks Pass gets you in the gate off South Yosemite Street. Contact: Colorado Division of Wildlife in Denver (303-291-7227).
