How to Qualify for the 2015 Hobie Fishing Worlds’ Championship
SHARE

Want to qualify for a worldwide kayak fishing tournament? Here’s your chance. Hobie is hosting its Bass Open on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes on May 30 and May 31. You can register for the event here.

Here’s how it works…

The event is a catch, photograph, and release (CPR) tournament, where anglers measure and document their top three bass during each of the two days, and fish are scored by total aggregate length. Eligible species include largemouth, spotted, and smallmouth bass caught from human-powered kayaks.

The winner will take the Open title and be invited to join the 2014 Hobie Fishing Worlds’ Champion, Steve Lessard, and the 2014 IFA Champion, Benton Parrott, in representing Team USA at the Worlds’ tournament next fall. Competitors will also vie for cash payouts and sponsored prizes. Learn more here.

Kentucky Lake is a 160,309-acre reservoir on the Tennessee River. It’s the largest manmade lake east of the Mississippi, so if you enter the tournament, you’ll have plenty of room to paddle.
