In November, John Kassera killed a 193 4/8-inch, 10-point buck, which, following an official measurement on Jan. 23, a panel confirmed as Wisconsin’s new archery typical-whitetail record. The news comes via the Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club, which works in partnership with official Pope & Young and Boone & Crockett scorers to verify and document the state’s record deer.

Kassera’s deer bests the WBBC’s previous typical archery record of 191 6/8 inches, set in 2014 by Adam Hupf. Kassera’s buck doesn’t crack the Pope & Young top-ten typical list (tenth place is set at 194 2/8 inches), but it’s certainly eligible for the club’s record program.

According to a statement by the WBBC, Kassera arrowed the bruiser at 20 yards near the Driftless Area of Wisconsin in La Crosse County. The deer’s main beams scored 30 6/8 inches and 30 5/8 inches, with 42 inches of mass and five tines more than 11 inches long.
