The caption contest from March 2 was one of our largest ever in terms of the number of submissions. As always, there were some standout captions, but after reading VAHunter540’s ode to “Eye of the Tiger” I had to give the Rio fly line and Redington hat and shirt to him/her. Just click on the link above for the song and listen while you read along to the words below. Good stuff!

With a nod to Survivor…..(hum “Eye Of The Tiger” as you read)

Trout Risin’ up, back on the creeks
Did my time till 5:00, then took my chances… with the wife
Went the distance, now I’m back on the creek
Just a man and his will to survive

So many times, it happens too fast
You cant set the hook fast enough for glory
Don’t lose your grip on the cork handles of the past
You must fight just to keep them hooked

It’s the eye of the muddler, it’s the thrill of the cast
Trout Risin’ up to the presentation of my fly
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the dusk
And he’s watchin’ us all in the eye of the Muddler
