Would you be more apt to buy flies based on the fact that the company selling the flies went out of its way to help people who are “victims of human trafficking and those caught in poverty cycles”?

Fair Flies is striving to do just that and and has set up its business model, as owner Jeff Coffey says, to “work with tyers, co-ops, and not-for-profits around the world to provide you superior quality flies by buying them from those organizations that are committed to providing fair working conditions and livable wages for everyone involved.”

Fair Flies is not certified “Fair Trade” company, but it plans on getting certification in late 2015 or early 2016.

You can read more about how they are trying to do that on their “About” page on the company’s website. They’re also in the midst of a Kickstarter campaign that explains the idea more in depth and offers a bunch of their products for sale.
