Whether you’re a jet-setting angler or dreaming about taking an exotic adventure, I have an option for you to consider: My Fly Talk partner, Tim Romano, is hosting a one-of-a-kind trip to Chile next spring. He’s too humble to talk about it himself, so I will.
He will head to Magic Waters Lodge just outside the town of Coyhaique. The trip not only includes fishing some of the most pristine, unspoiled trout waters on the planet, but it also involves photography lessons from Tim himself. If you want to learn how to shoot fishy images from one of the best pros in the world, here’s your chance.
The trip is limited to 10 people, and space is filling up quickly. The dates are April 2 through 9, with an option to add days to float the Baker River. That time of year is really great to be in Chile, with tons of streamer and dry-fly action. Tim has fished those waters before, and he knows the area well. There’s a reason he’s taking this trip to Magic Waters—it’s one of his favorite spots. Shoot an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or check out this webpage if you’re interested in coming along.
Truth be told, my first-ever trip with Tim, for a magazine story, was to this same part of Chile, in 2003. It was epic—and the rest, as they say, is history. I tease and kid Tim all the time, but he’s a rare talent as an angler and a photographer. It would be a tremendous experience for anyone to hang and travel with him; you will never fish or take photographs the same way again.
