I played a little hooky this past Tuesday. It’s been remarkably warm here in Colorado for this time of year, and I needed to get my new boat wet. I had never floated the upper Colorado this early before and it seemed like a good thing to do. My friend and Boulder Boat Works owner Andy Toohey and I floated and stayed a night at the strange riverside hamlet of Racho Del Rio near State Bridge, Colorado. It was so warm the river blew out a bit and chilled down from all the snow melt. The fishing wasn’t all that great, but it felt good to get out and see some wildlife, hang with a good friend, float a new boat, and just get some sunshine on my face.
