Fly Tying Innovation: Mahler's Single-Strand Mono Shrimp

This video may be a wee bit long, but if you're into tying, it's worth a watch. Shot on the IFTD show floor by the guys from Saltyshores.com earlier this summer, renowned tyer Joe Mahler walks you through his single-strand mono shrimp. As the name suggests, it's created with one long piece of 30-pound mono and a bit of super glue. Tell you the truth, it is also one of the most realistic shrimp flies I've ever seen. Even if you have no reason to spin up this particular pattern, the creativity behind the fly should inspire you to think outside the box at the vise.
