And now for something totally bizarre. Per this story on RT.com, a golden belly barb in Thailand lovingly dubbed “I-half” has passed away after an amazing six months of living—in seemingly good health—with its tail and trunk missing. According to the story, the fish jumped out of its tank and fractured a bunch of bones. Soon after, its rear end just sort of rotted away. I-half’s owner took the poor, sad-looking beast on the road as an attraction. Freaky. It does, however, make me wonder if any of the bunker I’ve had taken in half by bluefish, or bluefish I’ve had taken in half by sharks, are still hobbling along the bottom somewhere, fused over and right as rain except for that whole mobility thing.
