In my humble opinion, my buddy Brian Schmidt has one of the coolest jobs in flyfishing. He’s the guy that tests and critiques the hundreds of patterns submitted to Umpqua every year, and then decides which ones are worthy of being added to the company’s fly catalog. I asked Brian to swing by our booth last week to talk about the three patterns he was most excited about for 2014/2015. Now, they’re not big, flashy tarpon or pike flies, but if you flyfish and have some knowledge of famous fly tyers, you’ll understand Brian’s picks.
