Name: Randy Thomas
Randy is a hard working Pipeline Operator who lives outside of Houston, TX. While he’s a dedicated employee, he also has a passion for the outdoors and lives for his time off to hunt and fish. We selected Randy as the inaugural winner in 2011 and sent him to South Dakota where he hunted pheasant at Oak Tree Lodge (oaktreefarm.com).
Randy’s Winning Essay:
My name is Randy Thomas. I work for LDH Energy in Mont Belvieu, TX as a Pipeline Operator and Industrial Fire Fighter. I am a shift worker who is never home with my wonderful wife and beautiful baby girl. Overtime is a way of life for us. We normally work in 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights, working in the extreme elements that beat down on the Texas Gulf Coast. I look forward to each day at quitting time when I can jump in my Ram pick-up, fire-up that big Hemi and race home to my loving family.
I would like nothing more than to be able to play just as hard as I work. Bowhunting and hunting are very deep passions of mine and any chance that I get in the outdoors is a chance for me to unwind and relax.
