Field & Stream Tip: A Homemade Rod Tube for Travel

WHEN I FLY, my rod goes right into my check-through luggage, and I have a good system for protecting it in there. I break the rod down, wrap it in newspaper, and put it inside a piece of 4-inch-diameter PVC pipe cut to fit in my bag. My rods have stayed plenty safe that way.

REMINDER: As of January 2007, if you're leaving the country--including trips to Canada or Mexico--you now need a valid U.S. passport to reenter (always stash a photocopy in your luggage in case you lose the original).
