In the hierarchy of coveted Esox species, chain pickerel sit at the bottom. Their muskie and pike cousins will always take center stage, but that doesn’t mean pickerel—which are available to a lot more people—don’t have a cult following. Hook Shots host Joe Cermele has been chasing “slime darts” since he was a kid, and has never lost his passion for this lowly underdog.
