In some ways you can buy your way to better fishing with a now rod, reel, or lure. But you can’t buy a good knot. That’s something you’ll have to do on your own.
I’m working on a knots article for our print edition, and I’d like to know what your favorite knot is for tying on a lure or fly (terminal knot) with nylon monofilament. I often use a 5-turn improved clinch, for example, or sometimes a Palomar, depending on the lure size/type. But there are lots of other choices, too.
