The odds of 11-year-old Girl Scout Celeste Tietz having an encounter with a black bear are probably going up in her home state of New Jersey, but she was camping in Pennsylvania when it happened.

“I was sleeping [on a cot] and I woke up because I fell on the floor,” Tietz told The Express-Times. “Then something started pulling me towards the front of my tent and tried to pull me out.” She escaped harm by grabbing a tent pole and sliding out of her sleeping bag as the bear tugged on it.
