Sixty-eight-year-old Donald Meeks grabbed his bow on Monday morning and walked into the marshy shallows of North Carolina’s Falls Lake to arrow some carp. He didn’t walk out until rescuers pulled him from chest-deep mud at around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning.
From an Associated Press story posted on news-record.com:
_Meeks says he was simply walking when he fell in a hole, and that he began hallucinating while he was cold and wet and stuck in the mud.
“I thought about being in my warm bed and not out here shivering,” he said. “I asked Jesus what in the world I had done to deserve this.”_
