From an Associated Press story in the Detroit Free Press:
_A committee that wants to double some hunting and fishing license fees in Michigan has begun the slow, uphill battle to convince state lawmakers the increases are needed . . . .
The first step: Convincing lawmakers and the general public they would get over the sticker shock once they understand the financial difficulties faced by the DNR. The increases would be a quick fix and might not solve all the DNR’s long-term problems, supporters say, but would be a start toward better natural resource management._
Would you get over the sticker shock? Would you support or oppose such fee hikes in your state? Keep in mind, the fact that Michigan’s DNR is far from the only one with financial challenges means that many of us could face similar increases in the near future.
