Last Friday, Angela Kocar of Boulder, Colorado, spotted a mountain lion with her dog, Duke, in its mouth. She and her husband tried to scare the cat off as it shook their pet like a rag doll. When that failed, the man grabbed his shotgun and killed the cougar. Now he’s under investigation.
_[The Department of Wildlife] is investigating if the man was in his legal rights when he shot the animal.
The DOW says you can kill mountain lions to protect yourself and your livestock, but there is a grey area when it comes to pets.
If Kocar’s husband is found in the wrong, he could face a fine of up to $1,000, plus a $300 surcharge._
