State agencies want you. The question is, do you want a dangerous job for little pay?

From an Associated Press story in The Evening Sun:
_From California to Pennsylvania to Florida, states are struggling to recruit and train officers, and those already charged with enforcing wildlife laws are stretched thin. Though hard numbers are difficult to come by, officials say poaching of fish and game is rising, habitat and other projects are being delayed, and environmental enforcement is sometimes lacking. . . .

The danger of the job and falling interest in outdoor activities may also be to blame for shortages, officials say. But mostly, it’s the pay – often thousands less than traditional police officers make._

Would you want a job as a game warden? In California the starting pay is $48K; would that be enough?
