The crux of Pat Durkin’s column in yesterday’s Green Bay Press Gazette puts recent cougar-photo myths to rest. But there’s a new photo now, he writes, and it has state wildlife officials and academics curious.
_Adrian Wydeven at the DNR office in Park Falls, and professor Eric Anderson at UW-Stevens Point are trying to learn more about an intriguing cougar photo sent anonymously to Debbie Munson Badini, sports/outdoors editor at the Lakeland Times in Minocqua. She said the photo’s envelope had a Central Wisconsin (Wausau) postal stamp, and a note saying it was taken in February in Vilas County.
Wydeven and Anderson agree the photo shows a cougar in a Northwoods scene, but they’re puzzled why the sender didn’t claim credit and provide more details. They’re hoping publicity will help verify the photo._
Does this one look real to you?
