Last week, 37-year-old James Harris of Tama, Iowa, got together with some buddies for the opener of the pheasant hunting season. With a bird down, Harris put his shotgun on the ground to cross a fence. And when he did, his dog stepped on the gun, tripped the trigger, and sent more than a hundred pellets speeding into the hunter’s calf. Harris is now recovering from surgery.
