Don’t Feed the Animals: Florida cracks down on gator handouts

Gators who are fed by people may wind up feeding on people. So in the wake of three fatal alligator attacks in May, Florida wildlife authorities are cracking down on anyone who tosses so much as a M&M to a loafing reptile. During a three-day sting operation in Broward County on Friday, one Jeffrey Bush, 43, of Fort Lauderdale, was caught red-handed, lobbing a fish to a gator named Crusty. I could be wrong, but something tells me his excuse won't hold up in court: '"I wasn't really trying to feed the dumb animal," Bush said. "I was just throwing stuff at him to get him to move and one of those things happened to be a fish."
