Drive-Thru Turkey Hunting: On opening day, hunter pops Rufus and runs

Earlier this month, we ran a link to a story about Rufus, a wild turkey that had gained some notoriety hanging out in the parking lot of Idaho's Jacques Spur Junction Cafe, charming diners out of their leftovers. Sadly, Rufus has eaten his last French fry and will likely become dinner himself. On Saturday, the opener of spring turkey season, an older hunter parked his Chevy Blazer about 50 yards from the eatery, popped Rufus, tossed the still-kicking bird into the back of his vehicle, and took off. "The customers looked terrible when they heard the news," said the cafÈ's owner.
