Florida Gatormania: State expands hunting season to thin gator numbers

In the wake of three fatal alligator attacks, and in the midst of rising public concern described by some as gatormania, Florida officials have added six weeks to the state’s annual gator hunt in an effort to thin the reptiles’ numbers, according to this Sun-Sentinel story. Meanwhile, trappers have captured the animals responsible for two of the recent attacks.
