Gila Trout Season to Open in New Mexico

"In a true conservation success story, beginning in less than three weeks, anglers will have a chance to fly fish for Gila trout in New Mexico's Black Canyon and Iron Creek," reports Midcurrent.com. These southwestern New Mexico streams have been closed to fishing since 1966, when the Gila trout was first listed as endangered. Recently, the USFWS downlisted the species to threatened.
