Last may, while fishing Montana's Nelson Reservoir, 9-year-old Eli Waters of Malta, MT, hooked something huge—so big in fact that he needed a little help from his grandfather, Jim Jones, to reel in. Now, the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks have declared the catch—a 29.71 channel catfish—to be the new state record. The official honor will be shared by both anglers.
