Grizzly Mauling: Incident marks Alaska’s first attack of the year

Alaska's Michael Mungoven was jogging with his two dogs along a backcountry trail near his Anchor Point home, when, as he told the Anchorage Daily News, "things went to heck." Mungoven remembers little more than a horrible flurry of claws and teeth, as the bear tore into his neck, shredded his ear, and bit his shoulder, torso, and backside. Remarkably, he got up and walked home, feeling "pretty good." His wife sped him to the hospital, where doctors worked on him for 11 hours. He seems to be recovering well.
