Hurricane Forecast 2006: Experts predict a "very active" season, with 5 major storms

According to forecasters at Colorado State University (CSU) in Fort Collins, we can expect a "very active," 2006 hurricane season. The experts predict 17 named storms, with 9 becoming hurricanes, and 5 becoming major hurricanes. No picnic for sure, but this would be a big improvement on last year's record-setting 27 named storms, 13 hurricanes, and 7 major hurricanes, including 3 Category 5s. So cross your fingers until November 30th, the official end of the season.
