This weekend, Dan Steigers’ 11-year-old, 8-pound 5-ounce Idaho state record smallmouth taken from Dworshak Reservoir was smashed by a 9-pound 11.52-ounce behemoth taken from the same waters. The angler is taking it well. “I was kind of prepared for it to be broke here in a year or two with as many big fish coming out of there, but I wasn’t nearly as upset as I thought I was going to be,” he told The Lewiston Tribune. Of course, it helps that he caught the new record himself.
