Yovy Suarez Jimenez, 28, went for a jog in Sunrise, FL, Tuesday night. On Wednesday, construction workers found her dismembered body floating in a canal. And yesterday, the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that she was stalked, killed, and dragged into the water by an 8- to 10-foot alligator. This tragedy marks the 25th fatal alligator attack in Florida since 1948.
On the same day Jimenez was killed, a 74-year-old Fort Myers woman was bitten on the leg by a 6-foot gator, which she beat off with a garden hose. “I just whacked him right in the snout with the nozzle,” she told the News-Press. “After that, he took off.”
