Falling out of a raft, 9-year-old Ryan Rambo, whose family moved from Louisiana to Glenwood Springs, Colorado, after Hurricane Katrina, found himself gasping for breath in the midst of the Roaring Fork River. Suddenly, a yellow lab that had been walking the bank with it’s owner swam out, grabbed Rambo’s life preserver, and dragged him to shore. The irony, says the boy’s mother: “We came here to get away from flood waters and he nearly drowns in the river.”
