And so, with the governor’s blessing, the hunt went forward, and shortly after sunrise on opening day, Coty Jones, a junior at Corcoran College of Art and Design, spotted a big bear lumbering out in front of her tree stand at about 80 yards. Shaking, she took aim, took a deep breath, and dropped the biggest black bear ever bagged in the Old Line State. The 615-pounder smashed the previous mark by 129 pounds.
