On the combined heels of former Interior Deputy Secretary James Steven Griles’ admission of obstructing justice in the Jack Abramoff case and the recently reported leaked draft proposal to “gut” the Endangered Species Act (see here), Interior Inspector General Earl Devaney has concluded in a new report that the US Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fish, Wildlife and Parks, Julie MacDonald, has repeatedly altered scientific field reports to minimize protection for imperiled species (including sage grouse and bull trout) and shared nonpublic federal information to private industry groups.

According to Jurist Legal News & Research, “The investigation into MacDonald’s activities also uncovered two emails that she sent to individuals with e-mail addresses ending in “chevrontexaco.com.” Read more here.
