Along a hiking trail on Boulder, Colorado’s Flagstaff Mountain Saturday , a 7-year-old boy was bringing up the rear in a single-file line of friends and family when a mountain lion pounced, clamped down on the youngster’s head, and started dragging him towards the woods. Family members immediately joined the fray, fought the cat off with rocks and sticks, and ultimately saved the boy’s life. Early Sunday, just after midnight, state wildlife officers tracked down and shot the 80- to 90-pound female lion, about 1/2 mile from where the attack took place.
