Polar Bear Prison: Where Churchill’s bad bears go to chill out

Every summer and fall, roaming white bruins wander near or into the polar bear capital of the world at Churchill, Manitoba. The ones that can't behave themselves, wind up in the provincially run polar-bear jail, a transformed military warehouse with 23 holding cells. This summer, with the carnivore clink getting five new cells and air conditioning, the inmates should have no trouble cooling off as they wait to be released when the ice returns.
